Carolina Marsh Tacky Association

The Marsh Tacky is a heritage breed horse and the state horse of South Carolina. Spanish horses were brought to coastal settlements in the late 1500s. These horses and their descendants survived in the swamps and marshes of the Lowcountry. By the time of the American Revolution, Marsh Tacky horses were considered the "common" horse of the area.

18th century medicine was heavily influenced by Enlightenment ideas. Andrew Shuler will discuss medical practices and procedures of the era.

Willow cane Basket Weaving

Liz Canada, a volunteer at Historic Camden, will demonstrate the art of willow cane basket weaving. Her baskets will be for sale. Learn more about Historic Camden at the link below.

 

The Crew of the Charles Revenge are maritime living historians of the Golden Age of Piracy and colonial era, c. 1690-1780.

What's a Huguenot? What part did they play in South Carolina history? Join the Huguenot Society of South Carolina for 20-minute history discussions! 10:15am, 11:30am, and 1:00pm at the Huguenot Society table. Times subject to change.

Living Herstory

Carin Bloom of Living Herstory will interpret as a sutler/grocer. Sutlers were civilian merchants who sold provisions to armies in the field or in camp. Portraying civilian life that supported the army (but did not follow the army like many camp followers did), she will discuss how supplementing rations was a necessity for both the health and the morale of the soldiery.

What did colonists eat? How did they cook it? Learn about the food of the Revolution with Heather Welch, living historian.

The Artillery Demonstration Team of the SC Battleground Preservation Trust will be firing muskets and cannons four times. 9:30am, 11:00am, 12:45pm, and 2:30pm. They’ll be firing near Stony Landing House, overlooking the Cooper River.
