Beginning in March 2022, the Berkeley County Museum has hosted Expressions of Art in Berkeley County. These rotating exhibits showcase local artists - sculptors, painters, needleworkers, and more! Willis Sanders - March & April 2022

Willis Sanders was born in rural Cross, Berkeley County. He dreamed of being an artist as a child, drawing in the dirt or on paper grocery bags. In addition to art, Sanders has a passion for education. In 2013, after over 40 years serving the Berkeley County School District, Sanders retired, but is still active in the community. He is a BCSD volunteer and serves on the board of Berkeley Electric Co-Op and the Berkeley County Sheriff Citizen Advisory board. Sanders is also an active member of Faith Assembly Church in Summerville.


Vickie Hickman - June-August 2022

Vickie Hickman is a local artist and art educator. She has taught art to middle and high school students for 31 years and is currently the art teacher at Palmetto Scholars Academy in North Charleston. Her career has been dedicated to giving students the opportunity to think outside the box and create art. This is where she has found her success as an instructor. Her works are often on display at Donovan’s Custom Framing in Summerville.


Dale watson - September-December 2022

Dale Watson is an architectural and historic illustrator as well as a fine artist. He enjoys working in watercolor, acrylic, and oil. He works both in plein air and in a studio.


Christal Orange - January-March 2023

Christal Orange is a stained glass artist born and raised in Berkeley County. Her work is in the Tiffany style. Orange has also had her stained glass on display at the downtown Charleston Night Market.


Lilly Spence - May-july 2023

Lilly Spence is a nature photographer. She was born and raised in rural West Virginia, where she spent the afternoons watching the birds in her backyard, attempting to photograph them with a point-and-shoot camera. At the age of eighteen, she moved to Berkeley County for a change of scenery.
