Holiday in the Park 2022

Old Santee Canal Park and the Museum opened after-hours for one weekend during Celebrate the Season! At the Museum, visitors could enjoy warm beverages, delicious pastries, and the festive sounds of carolers. Photos by Brandy Moore-Gregory and Shanda Phillips.

2022 Colonial Day & Fort Fair Lawn Grand Opening

This event was 240 years in the making! Visitors saw Fort Fair Lawn to learn the history of this Revolutionary War-era fort. Costumed interpreters were on the Museum grounds and stationed near the redoubt to answer questions about colonial civilian and military life. Local history organizations and lecturers also shared their knowledge with the public.

The video above is by the Lord Berkeley Conservation Trust, a partner of the Museum and owners of Fort Fair Lawn. The fort is just one mile from the Museum and included with Park admission.

2019 Pirate Festival

In 2019, a format change offered more excitement than ever. Friday night, October 11, Fire Circus performed and visitors enjoyed roasting marshmallows. Saturday hosted a full day of piratical activities and adventures. Historians and authors lectured and read, sea shanties were sung, a pirate-inspired circus act was performed, a cannon was fired, and even Blackbeard himself mingled with the crowd!

MANY THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS!

For the 2019 festival, our sponsors were Arcadia Publishing and the Charleston Battery. If you’re interested in sponsoring our next event, please contact the museum.
