Safely Visit The Museum

We welcome guests to visit the Berkeley County Museum. Due to the continued rampant spread of COVID-19, your visit may be different, but safety is our top priority for our guests, staff, and volunteers.

What’s Different?

Hours
-The Museum is open Monday-Saturday, 9 am-4:00 pm, and Sunday, 1 pm-4:00 pm.
-Our last visitors will be admitted at 3:40 pm.
-If one of our staff or on-site volunteers is exposed to COVID-19, we will close to the public until a negative test result is obtained.

Visitor Experience
-There is plenty of space for social distancing within the building. Guest numbers will be counted and enforced; if the Museum reaches capacity, we will temporarily close to new visitors to allow space for social distancing.
-Our exhibits are designed to funnel traffic in one direction, which will be enforced.
-Properly worn masks or face coverings are not required but highly recommended. Staff and volunteers may be wearing masks.

Exhibits
-Most of the Museum is open for guests to enjoy!
-Some interactive elements that require touching of items, such as buttons and listening devices, have been modified or are unavailable.

Cleanliness and Safety
-Hand sanitizer is available.
-Our water fountain is available. We also sell bottled water for $1. Guests are welcome to bring their own bottled drinks, but other drinks (fast food restaurant cups, soda cans, etc.) are not permitted. No food is allowed.
-Throughout the day, staff and volunteers will clean and disinfect visitor-fronting locations.

Gift Shop
-Our gift shop is open!
-We now offer contactless payment.
-Only 4 people (or one family + staff) will be allowed in the gift shop at one time.

Ways to Help

Feeling uncomfortable about your visit at this time? That’s okay! We look forward to welcoming you back at a later date. There are ways you can help the Museum from off-site.

Due to being closed for more than four months, the Museum faced a large financial deficit for the 2020-2021 fiscal year and is still recovering. If you’re able, we’d love for you to become a member, make a monetary donation, or purchase something in our online gift shop. We’d also appreciate you sharing information about the museum on social media!

Berkeley County has a long history that we love to share with our guests, both local and visiting. We thank you for your understanding and continued support during this history-making pandemic.
